Resumen
El presente documento tiene la finalidad de exponer las discusiones al interior del Congresos de Estados Unidos, así como declaraciones, entrevistas y demás señalamientos por parte de los secretarios de seguridad, el presidente Barack Obama y otros funcionarios ante los congresistas que tenían que aprobar el presupuesto de la Iniciativa Mérida (IM), esquema por el cual colaboraban los dos países para combatir el tráfico de drogas en territorio mexicano.
Los documentos en que se apoya esta investigación son de primera mano, porque son la transcripción de las comparecencias y declaraciones de los altos funcionarios ante los congresistas en donde se exponen sus perspectivas y percepciones de que dicha colaboración siga siendo financiada por el Congreso porque la violencia en México propiciada por los narcotraficantes puede ser una amenaza directa a los intereses en el país con quien tienen no sólo una cercanía geográfica sino una integración comercial
