Abstract

The present document has the objective to expose the discussions in the United States Congress as well as statements, interviews and assignments from security secretaries, the president Barack Obama and other governmental secretaries before the congressmen who had to approved the budget for the Merida initiative (MI), deal for collaborating the two countries to fight drug trafficking in Mexican territory.

            The documents which support this research are original sources because they are transcripts from hearings and statements from top politicians before congressmen where they expose their perspectives and perceptions toward to the continuity approved of the financial collaboration  by Congress because the violence in Mexico made by drug trafficking cartels can be a direct treat to the interests in the country whom have not just a geographical closeness but a commercial integration.
