Abstract
This article aims to explore tensions existing in the current theory of international security after the fall of the USSR and the creation of an alleged “New World Order”, in which US hegemony is central. The main objective is to establish if multilateralism, which was predominant as a paradigm during the ‘90’s, has been replaced by the unilateralism of the next decade or if, on the contrary, it is still prevailing in a new way.
