Official aid of Spain an additional contribution to the development of the Central American region: Fund Spain SICA.

Abstract

Every since the restitution of democracy in Spain in the mid seventies, the official relations with Central American States have substantially improved. One of the pillars of these renewed relations will be the Official Development Assistance granted by Spain to each Central American country. This official aid has historically been assigned in a bilateral way, following the logic of official aid granted by the great majority of other industrialized countries. However and particularly in the case of Spanish cooperation granted to Central America, this bilateral tendency will start to change in the new century thanks to the Central American Regional Cooperation Program and p articularly thanks to the creation of Fund Spain SICA (Fondo España SICA) in 2006, which is a regional cooperation instrument with the

whole Central American Region.
